Hiring: Paid Volunteer Outreach Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY: The Outreach Assistant will support the Program and Outreach

Coordinator in building, implementing, and executing robust programming for our growing Latino community. This role is vital in addressing significant resource and knowledge gaps, along with language and cultural barriers that impact service engagement. The Outreach Assistant will assist in various tasks to help bridge these gaps, ensuring effective communication and resource distribution within the community.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Outreach Assistant will primarily focus on engaging with community members through

direct communication to ensure their participation in La Paz Chattanooga's classes and

programs. This role is crucial for maintaining consistent levels of attendance and engagement

by creating an ongoing communication plan through follow-up phone calls and gathering

participant feedback. The Outreach Assistant will support the Program and Outreach

Coordinator in building robust programming for the Latino community.


Key Responsibilities:

● Connect with community members (phone calls/text etc) to confirm their attendance for

classes and events.

● Follow up with participants who did not attend to understand reasons for absence and

encourage future participation.

● Maintain detailed records of communication with community members and attendance data.

● Assist in developing strategies to increase attendance and engagement in programs.

● Support the Program and Outreach Coordinator in organizing and facilitating workshops and events.

● Engage with community members to promote programs and services.

● Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings, maintaining records, and

responding to inquiries.

● Assist in the collection and analysis of feedback to inform program improvements.


Required Skills and Competencies:

● Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish, with the ability to engage

diverse audiences.

● Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

● Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently as needed.

● Proficiency in using office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).

● Enthusiasm for community engagement and a commitment to supporting the Latino

community.

● Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

● Previous experience in a nonprofit, community service, or outreach setting.

● Knowledge of Latino culture and community needs.

● Experience in customer service or direct communication roles.

● Basic understanding of data collection and program evaluation.
