STABILIZATION

CHATTANOOGA'S LATINO FAMILY
RESOURCE CENTER

In 2013 the City of Chattanooga gave La Paz the title of Latino Family Resource Center. We take this title very seriously, acting as a guide and connector for Latino families. Our stabilization services include:

MULTICULTURAL &
BILINGUAL CASE MANAGEMENT

No matter the situation, whether families need help filling out an insurance application or a school form or are victims of domestic abuse or at risk of experiencing homelessness, we are here to help in respectful and culturally-appropriate ways.

SOCIAL NAVIGATION

We believe that every Chattanoogan should be an informed citizen, no matter what their race or background. We introduce families to important resources and topics like public safety, civic engagement and workers rights.

RESOURCE & REFERRAL

We are a trusted resource and partner, serving the immediate needs of the community while advocating for inclusion and equity. With over 20 years of experience working within the community, we are able to make connections between those in need and those who can bring assistance.

HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION & HOUSING

Our Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) is designed to reduce the number of youth experiencing homelessness (18-24 year olds). La Paz’s assistance consists of rental assistance, moving costs, housing search and placement, housing stability case management, mediation, legal services, and credit repair.

LEGAL ACCESS

Working to decrease barriers and increase access to higher education and job opportunities, we assist students within HCS in applying for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS classification allows certain noncitizen children to apply for lawful permanent resident status in the United States).

FOOD PANTRY

The client choice food pantry model is a critical part of a community’s efforts to end hunger – not only does it make it easy for the pantry to source from our local food bank, but having the opportunity to choose their own food gives our community a sense of dignity and control, limits waste, and allows us to stock and curate culturally appropriate goods.

STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

La Paz Chattanooga works to eliminate barriers and increase access to services for the growing Latino community. Through partnerships, we are able to provide additional services on site at our Latino Family Resource Center to include; bilingual application assistance for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and TennCare (Tennessee’s Medicaid program), legal consultations, and tax preparation.

FAMILY PREPAREDNESS CLINICS

Throughout the year, La Paz partners with the Chattanooga Public Library and the Chattanooga Bar Association to offer opportunities for families to complete U.S. passport applications and prepare Power of Attorney documents (free of charge). The aim is to support families with complex procedures and encourage smart emergency preparedness.
